The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard Information for Studio Artist Applicants Potential Studio Artists are invited to apply to the Management Committee of the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard (BACD) for an agreement to sub-let studio space. The Management Committee will review the application, along with others received, to consider the applicantÕs calibre of work and suitability for the studio in conjunction with other studio artists and their work. Before final selection as a Studio Artist the application must be approved by the Board of Trustees. The Studio ArtistÕs work and performance will be reviewed annually in January by the Management Committee in consultation with the Board of Trustees to renew the sub-let agreement. Applications will be considered from groups of artists who wish to share the studio. Summary of Terms and Conditions of Studio Sub-Let Agreement Hours - Studio Artists are entitled to work full-time in the studio and as a minimum are required to work in the studio at least 60 hours per month during regular hours when the gallery is open to the public. Where the studio is shared, the hours spent by each artist may be combined to achieve the minimum number of hours required. Rent Ð rent is payable at a rate of $275 per month, to be reviewed in May 2011. Sales Ð all sales made from the studio will be transacted by BACD. Commission is payable to BACD at the rate of 15%, excluding cost of any frame (?), plus any applicable credit card costs incurred. Gallery Shows Ð Studio Artists are required to submit work into no less than on third of the shows in the Gallery per annum. Commission on sales from shows will be payable at the rate of 30%, excluding cost of any frame. Insurance Ð Studio Artists are responsible for insuring the artwork and equipment in the studio. (Should include wording about holding BACD harmless for loss, injury, third party liability etc.) Fixtures & Fittings Ð the studio will be supplied vacant and in clean condition. The Studio Artist will be responsible for providing any furniture, fittings or equipment they require and for making sure that it is safe for the public to enter the studio whether the Studio Artist is present or not. Publicity Ð Studio Artists must agree to be featured in publicity or advertising by the BACD. Studio Artists are required to interact with the public and are encouraged to give regular demonstrations. Application Process Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of recent work and a written application, which should give details of the applicantÕs proposed use of the studio, the time they anticipate being in the studio and the contribution they will make to the BACD as a whole.
